ABOUT
OMNICON Research & Information Systems was created in 1983, in Middletown, Connecticut, as a formal entity for the general business consulting activities of our founder, Dr. Frederick W. Scalise.
Increasing demand for environmental and occupational health consulting services led to the opening of OMNICON Environmental Management, a wholly-owned subsidiary, in Eugene, Oregon in 1987.

Founder and Principal
Dr. Scalise began his career as a hazardous materials emergency responder, and an emergency planner, in the early 1970s. He began providing independent consulting services in 1977.
In 1981, he was hired as a contract consultant by the University of Oregon (Eugene, OR) to serve as the Chemical & Biological Safety Officer, and Assistant Radiation Safety Officer, for the University's Office of Environmental Health & Safety. In that role, he was responsible for developing and implementing chemical, biological, and radiological safety programs, managing hazardous wastes generated by University facilities, emergency response to hazardous materials incidents, and providing industrial hygiene services for University students, faculty, and staff.
Dr. Scalise has served as the Principal and Senior Consultant for OMNICON Research & Information Systems since 1983, and for OMNICON Environmental Management, since 1987. He is also a Firefighter/Engineer, and Hazardous Materials Specialist with the Lane Fire Authority, and teaches hazardous materials training programs for emergency first responders.
